Manchester United Foundation

Excelling at sporting provision, earlier this year the Academy forged a link with Manchester United Foundation through their Hub of the Community project. Manchester United Foundation uses football to engage and inspire young people to build a better life for themselves and unite the communities in which they live. Dedicated staff deliver football coaching, educational programmes and personal development, providing young people with opportunities to change their lives for the better.

The Academy have become one of eleven Foundation Hubs across Manchester with our own Community Development Officer, who works both within the Academy and at our feeder primary schools. The partnership aims to develop a strategic delivery schedule including curriculum projects and transition delivery, focusing on building confidence, developing life skills and enhancing employability.’

As a result of the partnership the school were recently visited by members of the Manchester United U21 squad who assisted a coaching session and education programme. Students have also been able to visit the club’s training ground in Carrington and had the opportunity play football at Old Trafford during the Foundation’s 2015 Pitch Day. Finally, we are currently running an initiative which would see a student put forward for an interview to be a ball assistant at Old Trafford.
