Dear Parent / Carer

As you will know, Thursday 10 July is a strike day for several national unions.  It is also however the first of our designated Rewards Trips to Alton Towers, and I am keen to make sure that no student misses out on this, given that a very large majority have earned the trip free or at half price because of their good behaviour and attendance this year.

We have made several checks with staff and now know we have enough staff working on July 10 to supervise the trip for Years 9 and 10, meaning it can go ahead – but we will not then have enough staff available to open the academy to the remaining year groups.   Therefore we will be closed to Years 7 and 8 on Thursday July 10.  Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience caused – as always we have done what we can to keep our word to the students and to make sure we have tried every avenue to keep the academy open for others but in this case we will not have enough adults to keep supervision adequate.

So – on Thursday July 10 please send Year 9 and Year 10 students to school for the trip as requested, but please keep Year 7 and Year 8 students at home.  The building will be open on Thursday July 10 with some members of staff available if you do need anything on the day and we will be open to all students as usual on Friday July 11.

Apologies once again,

Yours sincerely
J Langley
